Fairy Garden Crafting Party

Growing up I know I loved having themed birthday parties with my friends.

Growing up I know I loved having themed birthday parties with my friends. I recall having a Princess Party, A Power Ranger (™) party, and a My Little Pony (™) party. As a child and even today, I have always loved fairies and fairy tales. This love is generational. A good friend of mine told me that she uses a mini fairy garden as an incentive to encourage her seven-year-old daughter to pass spelling tests. Every time her daughter does well on a test, they go shopping and buy new Flower Fairies, Fairy Friends, fairy houses, or other accessories to dress up her miniature garden. As I was driving home thinking about our conversation, an idea jumped out at me. What if parents planned a party where a group of children assembled their own mini gardens as part of a craft project. Before the date of the party, the children and adults, hosting the get-together, could assemble individual kits of small containers, rocks, and colorful mini garden accessories. Each child would have their own kit for planting a miniature, fairy garden.

As a child, you want to experience lasting memories and many parents want to give that to you. You also want everyone to have fun at your birthday party and sharing your love of mini gardening with young friends would be an easy way to fulfill your wishes. Planting a fairy garden would also be an enjoyable event and a unique souvenir for the children to take home and show off to their families. I have never met a child who did not love getting their hands dirty in art class and on the playground, so the children would have a good time playing in the soil. Introducing the younger generation to gardening, on a mini scale, may be a fun way to spark new interests in their young lives. You could even ask the children's parents to bring their own containers to save on costs, or just plan a small, basic design that would not break the bank.

However, you do not want to forget that adults love gardening and crafting as much as children do. I know I have had groups of friends over to create sensory bottles for their daycare classrooms, ornaments for Christmas presents, and homemade dog treats as gifts for the dog lovers in their lives. My house tends to be the place where people gather to attempt new projects, and try new and exciting things. This is why it could even be an enjoyable idea to host these miniature gardening parties for adults. Have a few friends over, puts on some music, and create a memorable fairy garden - just like when you were kids.
