Political Correctness affects Outcomes

We have seen the increasingly rapid spread of Political Correctness over the last few years and the time might have arrived for the pendulum to start swinging back.

Children are basically rewarded for showing up, and we are super sensitive when we announce winners, because other students or participants may feel uncomfortable.

We don’t apply the A to F symbols anymore because an F for FAIL may upset someone almost as much as marking a child’s work with a red pen.

US Students are performing poorer in Math, Science and Reading every year compared to the rest of the world. The only area in which US students really excel is in the area of self -confidence.

Now I ask you, what good is it to be self –confident, but inept?

With enough PC feedback you could be a happy, self -confident failure.

Failure? Yes Failure. We are living in a global society and you better know that there is competition out there. Competition to produce products and services. We are being trained to lose our competitive edge, but that’s OK, because we are politically correct.

Imagine if you have spent the first quarter of your life receiving diluted feedback on virtually everything you do, how are you going to handle reality as an adult?

Real life teaches us that there are consequences to everything we do, and these consequences can be very hard indeed.

The longer you hide the truth from someone the more they become devoid from reality. They start living in their own mythical world by taking decisions that are not in touch with what’s happening out there.

We see this in politics, Top politicians are often surrounded by Yes men. Because they don’t receive honest feedback they gradually shift away from what is really happening out there and they make decisions that are incomprehensible to ordinary folks.

By not taking action because it’s politically incorrect, we often exacerbate the problem.

We actually become frozen in our inability to address issues, because we may offend someone. When that happens, the wrong side wins.

One should learn from one’s mistakes. The more we soften reality, the less we learn.

We are becoming so sensitive that everything has becomes OK, as long as there is peace and harmony.

It’s OK to overeat, it’s OK not to discipline a child that needs and is looking for discipline, and it’s OK to allow your basic fundamentals to be overturned.

When PC overrides common sense, we have a problem.

Question irrational PC edicts.

Try and change them. If you are not successful, change your environment.
