Viewing Our Time In The Eyes Of A Future Artist

How will future viewers perceive art than and now?

Viewing Our Time in the Eyes of a Future Artist

By Joseph Parish

How would our future artists depict our time for further generations? We allegedly reside in a modern complex society where push buttons are the accepted norm. We merely have to press a key to prepare food in our microwave, or select our favorite television show by depressing positions on the remote control. With such comforts close at hand, it provides a simulated artist with his or her first clue to our artistic desires.

The depiction which we would inspire such an artist to invoke should clearly endow the impression of "modern age" to those art viewers in future generations. We would kindly request that our artist chooses materials which are shiny, smooth and of a metallic composition for the surfaces of our chosen art form. His portrayal should be based upon a skillful mix of circular and cylinder shapes crafted to provide one with the impression of gliding through both time and space, as if to highlight an artistic trip from our age to that of our future art reviewer. All lines within this project should be bold to signify the strength necessary to withstand the weight of time upon our society's shoulders, while our complete project will be of significant size to mystify the art critics of the future.

Our commissioned crafter should be challenged to convey a message in visual form to display our age as one of determination and innovation, as we design and perfect our "button" technology. He should include in this artist rendition, both a significant indication towards the youthful aspect, as well as the elderly for both ages equally have benefited from our modern efforts. His final disposition should be centered upon inscribing our major mechanical creations upon the face of the sculpture.

Although I am partial to oils and a brush, I feel this project would be best treated by way of a sculpture. This preferred medium should be crafted using a skillful combination of older bronze as well as an imaginative blend of platinum to signify the joining of both the elderly and the young as well as the old and new. After completion of the major work has been accomplished miniatures should be created to be distributed for various time capsules showing the ability of our generation to branch out among the people of the world.

Although this is merely a flight of my imagination, I would like to hope that we as a society can leave something tangible for future generations to judge our artistic accomplishments. This concept presented here is only my viable option being supplied for consideration.
