The Grammy award winner, tabla maestro Sandeep das journey from Benaras to Boston

Sandeep Das, the famous Indian tabla virtuoso collaboration with Yo-Yo Ma won Best World Music Album at 59th Grammy Awards for their album "Sing Me Home".

Sandeep Das started his musical journey at the age of 9. He got trained from the guru Kishan Maharaj. Das made his musical debut at the age of 15 with Sitar Maestro Ravi Shankar. From there he never looked back and earned international fame in a short time. His unique compositions, creativity have mesmerized many people and earned inevitable fame.

In his 21 years of professional career, he has collaborated with many musicians. His exceptional collaboration with the Yo-Yo Ma made him a Grammy Award winner. He is one of the unique Indians who has collaborated, performed and composed for orchestras, string quartets and jazz musicians with regular concerts at prestigious events. His musical compositions include western and Indian genres of music. With his music, he wanted to bridge the gap between east and west.

Das is a cultural and educational entrepreneur, who founded HUM (Harmony and Universality through Music) ensemble to promote global understanding through musical performances. Das started HUM with two motives: one is to promote global understanding through his music and the other is to provide learning opportunities and scholarships to the specially-abled children and empowering them to lead self-reliant lives with their potentials.

His musical albums combined with percussions and melody became worldwide popular, which got him two Grammy nominations.

A gold medalist in English literature from Banaras Hindu University, India, reached heights in the art of music. He is an artist, composer, and educational entrepreneur. He currently resides in Boston, USA.
