Preparing Your Vehicle for the Start of Spring

When spring fast approaching, it is time to move your car from its winter weather condition.

When spring fast approaching, it is time to move your car from its winter weather condition to the warmer spring condition. Chances are, the winter probably took its toll on your vehicle this year (especially this specific winter). However, that does not mean you are incapable of getting your vehicle ready for spring. Remembering these different tips on preparing your vehicle for spring will help you get the most out of your car, all before the warmer weather hits.

Wash Your Car
It might sound like an easy thing to do, but washing your car is very important in helping the car last. Getting your car washed is going to help it last longer and prevent it from rusting due to the salt and snow build up on the vehicle. The winter season can be extremely harsh on the paint and metal of your vehicle, so regularly washing it to remove all of the grime and other debris from the road is essential.

Check the Windshield Wipers
Your windshield wipers probably took a bit of a beating throughout the winter. With all of the snow it pushed off and those times you used it to scrape the ice off of your window because it was just too cold to do it yourself, the blades probably have some wear and tear on them. However, before the next heavy rain storm, you need to make sure and replace the blades for something new. Whether you opt into a new all-weather blade or just have it replaced, new wiper blades are going to drastically improve the visibility of your vehicle.

Top Off Fluids
Speaking of visibility, you need to top off the fluids in your vehicle, including the wiper fluid. As the roads start to dry off, there is going to be more dirt and dust in the air, which is just going to cake onto your windshield. You can either purchase the fluids yourself, or most locations that change your oil are going to top off your fluids for you. If you need your oil changed, you might as well wait to fill the fluids until after you have your oil changed.

Rotate Tires
It can be difficult to gauge how your tires wear throughout the winter. Depending on where you drive and the conditions, you might have relied on different tires (especially considering what wheel drive you have). Because of this, you need to rotate your tires. While rotating your tires, you might as well have them look at the alignment of your vehicle and see if that is correct. If the alignment is not correct, it is going to prevent your tires from wearing properly and it can cause other problems as well. That is exactly why you need to take your vehicle in and at least have the tires rotated.

Clean Out the Car
This can go along with washing the car, but throughout the winter and the colder months of the year, you probably had all sorts of junk build up inside of the vehicle. Spring is the perfect time for spring cleaning and to return your vehicle back to its original condition. You just need an hour or two to wash the car and to clean out the interior. While it probably isn't your favorite thing to do, you'll feel better doing it once it is all said and done. Of course, if you don't feel like cleaning out the car yourself, you are always able to take the car in and have it detailed. This way, you don't have to do any of the dirty work yourself.
