Hyundai plans to give the Santa Fe and Tucson crossovers a refresh for 2015 model year. This will consequently offer consumers improved automobiles and also help strengthen the presence of Hyundai Crossovers in the market.

The 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe

The 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe is projected to receive impressive updates in the coming year. This, however, will not be a complete redesigning of the model, which is not even likely in the near future. The planned updates will undoubtedly refresh this model. A new model of the Santa Fe is, however, planned to be launched in 2018.

Cosmetic changes will definitely be part of the updates. Both the exterior and interior will be improved and upgraded to offer a more luxurious appeal and elegance. The changes will, nonetheless, be less drastic.

The new 2015 Santa Fe, which will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, will not only be impressive but will come with a new upgraded engine option. The automobile, which is anticipated to be out in the market as of summer 2015, will also come at a refreshed price. Most rumors claim that the price will only be slightly higher.

Speculations about the new engine envision a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-for engine that will deliver 190 horsepower. There are also rumors that another engine option will be a direct injection 3.3 liter GDI V-6. The latter is the current engine on the Santa Fe. It offers 290 horsepower and 252 lb.-ft. of torque. The new engines come with an Active Eco System. This will improve EPA fuel economy and also streamline CO2 emissions. The new engine may come with an entirely new transmission, or stick to the six-speed automatic gearbox that is currently on the present models of the Santa Fe.

All the above are speculations based on rumors. However, the real info from the manufacturers will be disclosed by the end of the year.

The 2015 Hyundai Tucson

The Hyundai Tucson has been known for its compactness, well-composed handling and stylish sheet metal. The Korean manufacturers are however seeking to make changes that will improve the Tucson platform. They seek to enhance the driving dynamics, reduce vibration, noise and harshness. Other changes will include an overhaul suspension and increased usage of high-strength steel in the car.

Recent updates saw the 2.0 and 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines of the Tucson improved to direct injection. Consequently, this has resulted in more power, although there are concerns about a reduced mileage, especially in the 2.4-liter.

The five-speed manual transmission was abandoned last year, and current versions run on a six-speed automatic transmission. With the 2.0-liter engine, one gets 164 horsepower and 151 lb.-ft. of torque, while the 2.4-liter one offers 182 horsepower and 177 lb.-ft. torque. These engines are projected to be carried over to new productions, though the manufacturers are allegedly contemplating on downsized engines that are turbocharged.

The fluid sculpture of the Tucson is going to be maintained with only minor improvements. Already, the current models have received various upgrades, including projector headlights that feature LED accents, wheel with fresh new designs and rear LED taillights.

With the advancing technology, it is expected that new models will come with improved software. Current models offer the Hyundai’s Blue Link telematics service. This allows for voice texting, web search, download and automated collision notifications, among other things like updates about traffic, weather, restaurants and gas stations nearby.

Additionally, Hyundai has promised an entirely brand new next-generation model of the Tucson SUV in 2015.
