2015 Consumer Guide Awards: Kia K900 & Soul are the Winners

You don’t have to go too far back in Kia’s history to see an automaker and a range of vehicles

You don’t have to go too far back in Kia’s history to see an automaker and a range of vehicles that look little short of light years away from where they are now. The offering from the South Korean manufacturer just seems to go from strength to strength, with each new model taking Kia even further away from where it was only a few years ago. But if you haven’t been keeping up with the Korean Auto giant and its range of late, you only have to look at the slew of awards it keeps winning to tell you everything you need to know about just how fabulous its vehicles are these days. And although there certainly are a lot of obscure awards around the auto industry at the moment that are still nice to win, Kia is now picking up some of the very biggest accolades the U.S. auto industry has to offer.

Amongst some of the really notable awards the manufacturer has been sweeping up of late are a couple of Consumer Guide Automotive Best Buy Awards for 2015, in the Premium Large Car and Subcompact Car segments. The two winning models were the Kia K900 and Kia Soul respectively, both of which are no strangers to major awards. The Soul in particular has been receiving plaudits ever since it was first launched here as a 2010 model year, but since it was significantly redesigned for 2014, it’s been getting difficult to keep up with all its accolades.

Michael Sprague, the executive vice president of sales and marketing at Kia Motors America, said of the Best Buy Awards, “To be recognized by Consumers Guide Automotive with two Best Buy Awards for 2015 is an indication that our products continue to exceed expectations with a winning blend of world-class design, outstanding quality, state-of-the-art technology and premium amenities, all at a tremendous value to the customer.”

Consumer Guide Automotive editors choose winners for 20 different segments of the market each year for Best Buy Awards, so for Kia to claim ten percent of the top places for itself is quite an achievement. That’s especially the case for a car like the K900, which goes up against some incredibly stiff competition in its segment, while actually costing tens of thousands of dollars less than many of its rivals.

Although the Soul has a noticeably unique and funky design that appeals to a wide range of potential buyers, the K900 is a bold move into the luxury market for Kia that definitely looks to be paying off. Although the premium sedan is a relative newcomer to the awards circuit compared to the Soul, it’s now recently added the “2015 Urban Car of the Year” accolade from Decisive Magazine at the North American International Auto Show.

If you’re wondering what all the fuss is about with the 2015 K900 and Soul, you’ll certainly find that there’s no smoke without fire as far as all the plaudits are concerned if you check them out for yourself.
