In the past pickup trucks were used by ranchers, farmers and trade workers to move their equipment and crops. Also a thing of the past, are the poor fuel economy ratings that came with pickup trucks. As pickup trucks have moved from farms and into the cities, their fuel economy has improved for their surroundings.

The new Ford F-150 lineup is the best yet, featuring the toughest, smartest and most capable vehicles on the market. They now include the highest EPA rating of any full size pickup on the marketplace. Equipped with a 2.7 liter Ecoboost, the new F-150 has an estimated 19 mpg in the city, 26 mpg on the highway and a combined fuel economy rating of 22 mpg, which is 29 percent better than current models. It can now tow up to 1,000 pounds more and haul as much as 530 pounds more. Ford has gone to the next level and strives to provide customers with more fuel-efficient vehicles.

The improved performance is possible by saving weight through the use of high-strength steel and high-strength, military grade, aluminum alloys. Saving the weight not only helps to save fuel economy but also the capability and performance. There are four engine choices that are available: 2.7-liter EcoBoost with auto start-stop, a 3.5-liter V6 Ti-VCT engine, and the most powerful 5.0-liter V8 Ti-VCT engine and an available 3.5-liter premium EcoBoost engine. The F-150 pays off by making high volumes of internal combustion engines as efficient as possible through EcoBoost technology and achieves substantial weight savings. Ford engineers took a revolutionary step with the body of the pickup. They've used advanced materials to produce a strong and powerful truck. They have an all-new fully boxed ladder frame which is wider and increase the use of high-strength steel. These alloys make the truck as much as 700 lbs. lighter than previous pickups of the same kind.

Other features include a 360-degree camera system. This new system provides extra visibility and is the absolute first of its kind for pickups. It makes it easier to navigate into parking spaces and especially tight corners. Cameras are mounted on the grille, tailgate and under each side view mirror and is all stitched together to provide the driver a birds-eye view, and visibility as much as seven feet around.
