The courier industry has been a growth area in the last few years, thanks to the increasing number of delivery subscription service users. The opportunities for courier jobs are multiplying, and not only could you be delivering more packages to the increasing number of people who order online, but you could also find work carrying parcels back to retailers should customers be unsatisfied. Here’s a rundown of how to make the most of these services.

Delivery Subscriptions Increase in Popularity

A recent research project conducted by Whistl revealed that UK customers spend close to £2 billion on monthly delivery subscription services every year. This means that courier drivers are in high demand, as more people are ordering items online and need them delivered quickly and efficiently. Many companies now offer several types of delivery services, encouraging more and more consumers to take out a subscription.

According to the report, Amazon Prime is the most widely used subscription service, with around 60% of the people who took part in the survey already signed up. However, there are also many other popular delivery schemes, including Glossybox, ASOS Premier, Graze, nextunlimited and Pact Coffee. There’s little doubt that the list will continue to grow over the next few years.

Consumers surveyed by Whistl said they chose to take out a subscription because they were motivated by value for money and convenience. This evidence points towards something the delivery industry has already realised: UK consumers’ expectationsof a highly efficient, convenient and open delivery service are high.

Of course, this increase in demand is great news for couriers as these companies rely on committed, professional drivers to keep up with consumers’ expectations and stay ahead of the game.

The Whistl survey reveals that 20% of British consumers will pass over a retailer who doesn’t offer a delivery subscription service in favour of one who does. Even more telling, the report also reveals that almost half of subscription users purchase items they wouldn’t otherwise buy - simply because they have a subscription. Deliverycompanies have become an invaluable weapon for retailers to remain competitive and, consequently, the number of online orders is on the up.
