Lenovo Launches Mobile Internet without SIM Cards

We all know the frustration of travelling abroad and trying to access the internet. The SIM card is always a problem, as a new one is needed for every country we travel to. Well, Lenovo has a solution – mobile internet without SIM cards.

At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the company has launched a service to allow users to access the internet without the need for SIM cards. Called ‘Lenovo Connect’, the primary goal is to eliminate SIM cards by allowing the devices to connect to the internet, offering a “global roaming service”. Lenovo will act as a MVNO (mobile virtual network operator), meaning it will operate user the cellular service of other telecom providers. However, users will buy the service from Lenovo.

Users will have to open Lenovo connect on their Lenovo PCs/tablets/smartphones, check the country’s data charges, and connect to the internet with the click of a button. Currently, the service is available in China for the LeMeng X3 and Miix 700 tablet models.

FBI Director James Comey Requests Users to “Take a deep breath”

The San Bernardino attacks, which left 14 dead and 22 injured, shook the U.S. to its core. This is the reason why the FBI has a court order that asks Apple to unlock the phone of one of the attackers, Syed Rizwan Farook.

FBI Director James Comey recently commented, “I hope folks will take a deep breath and stop saying the world is ending, but instead use that breath to talk to each other. We simply want the chance, with a search warrant, to try to guess the terrorist's passcode without the phone essentially self-destructing and without it taking a decade to guess correctly.  That's it. We don't want to break anyone's encryption or set a master key loose on the land.”

Pothole Detection Technology in Latest Ford Car

Potholes are generally unavoidable. However, Ford plans to install its latest pothole detection technology in its 2017 Fusion V6 Sport model. The system works like this – As the car approaches a pothole, in 2ms the computer is activated and a signal is sent to the shock absorbers to not allow the tire to enter the pothole.

CAT Introduces Thermal-Imaging Smartphone

Caterpillar Inc., or CAT, is known for its heavy machinery and equipment. Now, the company has introduced the world’s first thermal-imaging smartphone, called CAT S60, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Equipped with a FLIR thermal imaging camera with a VGA resolution of 640 x 480 pixels, a normal camera, a 3800 mAh battery and Android Marshmallow, the phone is designed for professionals such as firefighters and field technicians in mind.
