Plenty Of Festive Fun In The Capital

If you’re staying in a student flatshare, London’s best festive fun can be found right on your doorstep.

London is home to some of the world’s most famous attractions, bringing in thousands of visitors every year, but arguably the best time of year to come to the capital is during the festive season! Whether it’s Christmas lights or the lights of a skyscraper, from the window of your student flatshare, London looks its best in winter. Of course, there are lots of beautiful things to look at in the city, but more importantly, there are some amazing things to do!

Light Up the City

There are obvious downsides to the days being shorter and colder, but there are numerous upsides too! A big positive is the fact that the Christmas lights go up on Oxford Street. Every year this world-famous shopping street has a different concept for its decorations and every year it seems to be better than the last. It’s conveniently located too, with plenty of shops for a bit of retail therapy and close to many student flatshares. London has other fantastic light displays at this time of year, of course, but Oxford Street is the most well-known. Pretty much every corner of the city will have its own local Christmas lights, so keep your eyes peeled!

Getting Festive in Hyde Park

Every year, not far from the Oxford Street Christmas lights is the Winter Wonderland event at the majestic Hyde Park. Running throughout the festive season, this open-air event lets you enjoy pop up bars, restaurants, ice skating, rides and so much more. It’s perfect for a taste of sheer festive fun. Wander around enjoying the entertainment and street food, sip a warm mulled wine or a craft beer and soak in an atmosphere that is like nothing else in the city.

Ice Skate Through Winter

If you like things a little more active, then you are spoiled for choice in the UK’s capital city. There are many places where you can put on a pair of skates and glide gracefully across the ice. Some of the best locations to skate include the famous Tower of London or under the sparkling lights at the Natural History Museum – don’t worry though, there are lots of other places too, and with so many options available there is bound to be one near your student flatshare. London on ice is definitely worth trying! It’s not uncommon for famous venues to turn their outdoor spaces into open-air ice rinks, and these events make for a festive treat even if you’ve never skated before.

With so much going on in the capital this winter, there is sure to be something to suit everybody’s tastes. The atmosphere is electric and people all around are in the mood to relax and have fun. There are attractions all over the city, so no matter where your student flatshare, London’s best and brightest will be just on your doorstep.
