Excelsia College Appoints New Associate Professor Of Accounting And Program Director

Associate Professor May Hu has been appointed as Excelsia College’s Associate Professor of Accounting & Program Director

Associate Professor May Hu has been appointed as Excelsia College’s Associate Professor of Accounting and Program Director as part of the Business School. In this role, May will oversee the curriculum of the Business School’s accounting programs and ensure excellence in students’ business accounting capabilities, and in their preparation for life in related professions.

Associate Professor May Hu said:

The accounting profession is future-focused and very accessible to industry. Students can choose from different careers in the accounting world, with opportunities to work in virtually any industry. Graduates are always highly sought after; the Bachelor of Business (Accounting) and the Master of Professional Accounting can boost a graduate’s employability and open doors to alternative careers in business and senior positions. Accounting work can be intellectually fulfilling with more contemporary and transferable skills around the world.’ Both courses offered by Excelsia are 100 per cent accredited by by CPA Australia (Certified Practising Accountant Australia) and CAANZ (Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand), meaning that all of the required learning is achieved by successfully completing all of the required units in the courses.

 

Associate Professor May Hu has extensive experience working in universities and industries in accounting and finance areas. She has been program director, general manager and dean; as well as a TEQSA expert, and she has been on Academic Board, Course Advisory Committee, Teaching and Learning Committee and Industry Advisory Board. She has also served as a journal reviewer and guest editor, as well as independent director of multinational corporations in China.

Associate Professor Hu has a PhD from Massey University. Her research interests include corporate finance, corporate governance, financial economics, financial accounting, corporate innovation, earnings management, risk management, and international finance.
