Head Position And Its Importance In Pregnancy Phase

Right from an embryo, the baby develops, in its mother’s womb to be fully grown for delivery to the outside world.

The phase of pregnancy

The period of its stay is termed as the gestation. It occurs throughout nine months, causing a lot of pain and other complicated problems to the mother.  During the development, the baby grows in size as well as in shape where its internal organ grows in size and also attains the capability to function when he or she will be in the extra uterine world. During this phase position or the arrangement of the baby is very much important, in the mother’s womb. It defines many important features. It defines the status of growth and also the healthiness of the baby dwelling inside the womb silently.

The Best position for the bay to be inside the womb

By far the head down baby positions is the best possible position for the bay to be in its mother’s womb. It is also called as the cephalic presentation where the back portion of the head of the baby is towards the frontal or the anterior part of the mother’s womb. In another type when the back region of the head of the baby is towards the back of the womb of the mother, then it is called as the occipital posterior position. However, the anterior position is more beneficial for the labor as well as during the delivery. And the presence of the head at that position will help during the normal delivery as smoothly the head region of the baby will come first and ultimately the body. Thus the anterior position is also called as the breech position.

Timeline of the positioning

After attaining the 26th week actual movement of the baby starts when it starts aligning itself either in the anterior posture or in the posterior posture. To complete the total aligning the baby takes at least 28 to 30 week within which align themselves in the respective order. In case of the breech positioning, it takes around 30th week to move the head to the frontal region of the womb. This positioning also gives a gentle balancing to the baby. However, with daily activity of the mother that position of the baby can somewhat be changed, that is it can move a little bit but never the alignment of the baby changes totally.

Improving baby’s positioning in the labor phase

If the baby is in the anterior position then the labor phase will be better than usual. If the baby is in the posterior position, the pain caused in the labor phase is very much high. However, there are techniques with which it possible to change that position of the baby inside the womb to the anterior posture. Plenty of rest and proper diet can also be helpful to cope up with the increasing pain during the labor period.

Conclusion

Thus head down baby position is termed as the best position as they will aid in the delivery process and the babies can be delivered with the help of normal delivering method without using any of the surgical techniques.
