How To Create Sensible Social Media Content Strategy

Social media is the best place to promote your business...only if you do it properly.

After more than 20 years of living in this world, you may have realised by now just how much the world changed. Back then you wet your bed as a child and nobody would know as long as your sister didn’t tell anyone. If that happened today, however, your sister might just take a photo and upload it on social media for the world (or maybe her friends) to see. Really, I’m not exaggerating things here. I have seen my best friend uploading her brother’s embarrassing test results on Instagram story – and that’s real, guys. It’s what happens today. However, having social media account for personal use is not the same as having social media account for business use. While almost everyone is always angry on social media, you need to be extra careful when it comes to managing social media for business if you are a business owner. It does not just cost you your own reputation; your business could be at stake as well! For that reason, you need to create more sensible social media content strategy for your business. How? Keep reading this article to find out!

Define your target audience

First, before you even create the strategy for your social media content, try to define your audience. Look at the key demographics of your audience starting from age, gender, occupation, income, interests and hobbies, etc. Find out about what they need and what challenges they have to face in order to get what they need. When you understand this, it will be easier for you to provide what they really need directly.

Start blogging

I know some people are reluctant to read, but people who are interested in your product may be the ones who read your stuff. Blog is an important place to share information and opinions about something which leads to people being encouraged to make a purchase. Let me give you a real life example. I have always been a fan of skincare and you might see me as a skincare addict who always goes for skincare reviews before actually buying it. Why? Aside from testing whether the skincare product is suitable for my skin or not, I need to make sure if the texture and the size are worth the money I will be spending later. If you start blogging about reviews on your products as well as tips and tutorials on how to use them, it will be more helpful for your target audience to not only understand your products but also understand that you care about your target audience and value them as well.

Create fun and educational content

Ever heard the saying “too much is not good”? Yes, too much fun content is not good and too much educational content in a strategy is also not good. Create a balance between “fun” and “educational” at the same time. For example, you can share fun facts that are fun to know about but also educational that your target audience is more resourced after seeing your social media content. Again, I’m going to give you another example using skincare (because I just love it and it will be easier for you to understand). There is this skincare product that uses 24k Gold as their main ingredient. Their social media account has more information about skincare and its fun facts. One day, I saw their newest post about fun facts on 24k Gold. This is what they say; “Legend goes that Cleopatra used gold to keep her skin looking young and luminous.” While many women admire Cleopatra, this fun fact does not only attract many women’s interest in Cleopatra’s beauty secret, it also brings and encourages their heart to actually take action on it; buy the 24k Gold skincare products from that beauty company.

Those mentioned above are wise moves you can do in order to create sensible social media content strategy. The point of this article is; you read your audience’s mind, understand them and deliver what they need without them knowing your ‘real purpose’ behind understanding them. This will make them appreciate your attentiveness toward their needs and value your business more. They key point is; understand, feel and listen. Once you do this successfully, everything else will follow.
