Keep The Memory Of The Holocaust Victims Alive

Every year on the 27th of January Holocaust Memorial Day is celebrated around the world.

In the modern world one of the biggest tragedies ever was the holocaust and till today there are survivors who do all they can to make sure that this enormous man-made tragedy will never be forgotten. Several foundations have been set up to ensure that the sufferings of those men, women and children who were tortured and killed will be remembered but never repeated. By organizing talks by survivors, photography exhibitions of the horrific events of World War 2 and other such programs members of these foundations and groups hope to educate the present generation of the horrific consequences of breeding hatred. The National Holocaust Remembrance Day is a day specially dedicated to the victims of the holocaust. Other than the regular programs there are special ones organized on the Holocaust Memorial Day that is held every year.

Programs Held To Educate Future Generations On The Holocaust

One of the main missions of the Holocaust Remembrance Projects is to ensure that the deaths of the over 6 million Jews is never forgotten. The survivors go out to schools, colleges, churches, synagogues and any other place where they are allowed to speak about their experiences. They hope that by listening to the atrocities that were suffered by fellow humans, the present and future generation will learn to be more tolerant and kind. To ensure that these Remembrance Projects can be continued for many more years, the public are asked for support in various ways. The survivors are growing old and soon there will not be any more survivors left. By getting involved in the different programs any one can do their part in working towards a society that is tolerant and peaceful.

New educational programs are introduced, special musical concerts in the memory of those who died, candles are lit and in some places the names of all who died are read out. For those reading or listening, when the story comes from an eyewitness, the impact is even more. These Remembrance Projects are conducted in almost all the countries where survivors escaped to and have made their home. This is one event in the history of the world that should not and cannot be forgotten.
