Cosmetics Regulatory Services In Nigeria

We help cosmetic companies with Cosmetic Registration in Nigeria.

Nigeria is relatively less explored African market for Cosmetics. Cosmetic products in the country are regulated by National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) under Food, Drugs and Related products (Registration Act) and NAFDAC act. All cosmetic products that are manufactured, imported, exported, advertised, sold or distributed in Nigeria must be registered as per ACT CAP F33 (LFN) 2004 (formerly decree 19 of 1993). Additionally, trademark registration is applicable for cosmetics as per NAFDAC regulations.

Foreign cosmetic product manufacturers must appoint a representative (an individual or registered company) of Nigerian origin as the applicant. This entity must be capable of handling the product circulation. The representative must have a duly executed Power of Attorney from the manufacturer (signed by company MD, GM, Chairman or President) appointing and authorizing him/it to act in that capacity and specifying the name(s) of the product(s). The regulations enforced are still evolving and dynamic. Extensive laws to be adhered to might prove challenging while registering the product.

To navigate manufacturers through compliant procedures, Freyr offers Cosmetics Regulatory support inclusive of legal representation, claims review and substantiation, labeling review, and other processes to ensure successful product notification / registration with the NAFDAC. Extending assistance in post-marketing phase, Freyr also helps in renewals of license in due periods.
