The Easiest Guide Ever To Get Fit & Healthy

The most important things to get fit is eating.

The most important things to get fit is eating.

Every year, we all decide to eat healthy and get fit in the new year, which works really well…for all about 2 days.

But this year, we want to change that, for you and for us, so we went on a full on investigation to make sure we make the most comprehensive and helpful guide for all lazy people like us, so we all can get healthy this year together!

The most important things to get fit is eating.

EAT RIGHT

The first step to any fitness journey will always be eating right. Not only does it facilitate weight loss but overall health as well, including clearer skin, more energy etc. However, we understand that it is not always possible to stick to a certain diet, also it’s kind of no fun because food is awesome.

But here are a few things you can do to control your eating habits:

  • It’s all about portions. No food is particularly unhealthy if eaten in the right quantity. Swearing off carbs or fats is not the solution.  Have the pizza, but don’t let yourself have the next slice if you know you are already full.
  • Drink lots of water. We can’t be stress enough. One of the major reason we overeat is because we confuse our thirst for hunger. Water also makes us feel more full, thus helping avoid overeating. Drinking lots of water not only helps in losing weight but also the overall health of your body. Watch that acne clear up as you say bye-bye to those extra kilos.
  • Enjoy eating, and spend time on your meals. Our brains take almost 20 minutes to register when the stomach is full. Eating food really quickly can lead to overeating, but taking your time with your food helps to know when you are full and avoid overeating.
  • Read labels and look at the ingredient list. If the product contains refined sugar, enriched white flour and is high in sodium, it’s a food best left on the shelf. If you can’t pronounce each of the ingredients or know what they are, you probably shouldn’t be buying it. Reading the ingredient label is a must if your goal is to know exactly what goes into your body.
  • It could also be a good idea to say no to white, meaning avoid all white, plant-based foods which are usually extremely high in sugars and starch, but instead, choose more colorful, nutritious foods for their meals.
  • Healthy food DOES NOT MEAN bland or boring food. There are a plethora of easy to make healthy dishes which are also super yummy. Here’s an awesome apple banana smoothie to keep your junk food cravings at bay (also makes for a great breakfast!), or this spinach chicken pasta or this vegetable bake because literally no one ever said that green leafy vegetables can’t be fun. Chia Puddings are a great option too, and the variety is pretty much endless. In case you’re in the mood for something to spice up your life while keeping the extra calories at bay, you can also check these recipes –  healthyBhelpuri, Vada Pao and vegetable cutlets.
  • Fruits are YAY! Get your favourite fruit every time you feel that mid-day craving for food coming on.
  • The only thing we’d actually suggest giving up is Sodas. That glass of aerated drink is pure sugar and PURE EVIL!
  • We also highly recommend investing in an air fryer or oven. Almost all the frying can be avoided. No matter what it is, baked tastes the same!
  • For more healthy nutrition, you can also follow various blogs online, like The Picky Eater and Sue’s Nutrition Buzz. Put That Cheeseburger Down and Fitness vs Weight Loss also have healthy recipes as well as articles on exercises and fitness.
  • If for some reason you are forced to order out food, luckily enough, now there are so many options that guarantee healthy and fulfilling meals. We highly recommend Yoga Cafe, My Green Haus by Ritu Gupta, PitaPit, Nutrition Nation, Salad Chef, Salad Days and Lean Chef. Also a special shout out to Yumist, for delivering superb healthy home cooked meals to us almost every day!
  • YouTube is also a great source for finding healthy and easy to make recipes.

LASTLY, DON’T TAKE IT TOO FAR

Staying fit is just that, staying fit.

Don’t do it because some distant relative saw you after 15 years and commented ‘You’ve gained weight beta’. Aunty, your useless opinion might be why we haven’t spoken for 15 years.

Don’t do it because society’s idea of a plus-sized model is actually just a regular healthy human being.

Don’t do it because you think you are fat. Remember, you need to focus on being healthy. It is okay to have a tiny bit of fat, it is okay to have curves (shoutout to the Kardashian/Jenner clan!), it is okay to not look like a wrestler on steroids.

Good luck on your fitness journey. Invest in some cool & awesome T-shirt.
