Amendoeira: The Algarve's Ultimate Golfing Resort

Golf holidays here can be an incredible experience with the Amendoeira Golf Resort being a highlight.

You really are spoilt for choice when it comes to golf in the Algarve. Golf holidays are hugely popular here, as there are 31 excellent courses to choose from, and the great weather and stunning natural surroundings certainly help! Whilst there are a few places that are worth checking out, the Amendoeira Golf Resort stands out, thanks to the two championship courses, the excellent academy and the luxury hotel.

The award-winning resort is well-known for its natural beauty, with the Monchique Mountains providing the perfect backdrop for teeing off and soaking up the sun each day. What’s more, the modern apartments and villas allow you to unwind after a long day on the course; while apartments are equipped with communal pools, villas have their own private pools. Additionally, the accommodation’s central location means that it is easy to get out and explore the beautiful countryside and nearby town of Silves.

So, what about your playing options? Read on to find out more.

Oceanico Faldo Course

This wonderful 6598m, par 72 championship course was designed by – you guessed it – Sir Nick Faldo, and it certainly lives up to his name. The course demands that you use your brain and develop a strategy to avoid the various water hazards, olive trees, rocky outcrops and bunkers that also add to the aesthetic appeal of this challenging course. It is enhanced by the dramatic Amendoeira landscape, which makes for lovely views of the surrounding area – just make sure that you don’t get too distracted!

Oceanico O’Connor Jnr.

This round of 18, designed by Christy O'Connor Jnr, is as challenging as it is enjoyable. Its lush setting takes full advantage of the fertile valley, and there are a number of water features along the way, including picturesque lakes and watercourses that require great accuracy to avoid. You’re sure to get a good workout here, as navigating the large greens with subtle contours takes careful thought and precision. The eighteenth hole is the highlight; there’s a river running alongside the right-hand side, as well as a gentle climb that allows for mesmerizing views once you close off the round.

Oceanico Academy

Of course, you’ll want to return home a better player after your trip to the Algarve – golf holidaysare not just about soaking up the sun and taking in the views! The excellent academy here allows you to refine your game, and is ideal for those looking to improve their putting. It is a nine-hole course that’s been built to the same standard as the championship courses, boasting three teeing options that can vary the line of play. There’s also a fun yet challenging water hazard near the seventh hole.

There is nowhere better to work on your game than the Amendoeira Golf Resort in the Algarve. Golf holidays are about playing unique and challenging rounds in beautiful settings, and this resort certainly ticks all of the boxes. The luxury accommodation ensures that you will feel completely at peace, whilst the variety of holes and spectacular setting mean that you will never get bored during your stay.
