Aprés-ciate Summer Skiing & Swizzles In Tignes

Don’t just stay inside your catered chalet – Tignes has a lot to offer, from cosy drinks to dancing through the night!

Tignes is one of the best-known ski resorts in the French Alps for good reason. It is huge, diverse and even offers summer skiing on the Grand Motte glacier from late June to early August. With five well-linked villages and an array of catered chalets, Tignes truly is the best of the best. And while it may not be famous for its après scene, the resort has enough options to guarantee fun for all demographics.

La Flambée

At the bottom of the slopes in Les Almes, in Le Lac, lies the Hotel Village Montana. Nestled within is the cosy La Flambée. A perfect spot for relaxation, the bar is an alpine dream: all soft sofas, roaring fires and hearty vin chaud.

Loop Bar

A British-run establishment with live bands, DJs, comedy, live sport, food, snacks and more – Le Lac’s Loop Bar has it all. Its vast array of entertainment makes it a great excuse to leave your catered chalet; Tignes’ finest sun-trap terrace provides great reason to take your time and enjoy the ambience. The bar can be found at the bottom of the Rosset and Trolles runs, so perfect for an afternoon break.

Marmot Arms

Another British-style pub in Le Lac, the Marmot Arms offers live music and sport and a pool table. It’s across the village from the Loop Bar, and its prime location opposite the Palafour lift ensures you’re well covered for drinking holes wherever you find yourself out on the slopes.

Jacks Bar

Also in Le Lac is Jacks Bar – a late-opening establishment located inside the village’s bowling alley. If you’re looking to dance the night away to cheesy classics, Jacks is the place for you!

Whitney Bar

Far higher up, at the foot of the Grand Motte, is Val Claret, and its sophisticated 5-star Suites du Nevada hotel. Inside you’ll find the trendy, modern Whitney Bar, offering fine wines, bar snacks and a large, open fire.

Melting Pot

The most popular late-night spot for Brits, the Melting Pot offers much less cheesy music than other haunts, with a range of hip hop, electro, drum and bass and other dance music. It also frequently hosts guest DJs and offers drinks promos. What’s more, it’s open till 4am! If you like to roll in late to your catered chalet, Tignes has you covered.

Couloir

Perhaps the most versatile venue on this list, Couloir stretches out over three floors in the centre of Val Claret. It’s got a restaurant, a relaxing downstairs area with comfy sofas and classier cocktails and tapas upstairs. Happy hour runs 4-6pm, but you’ll often find yourself tempted to stay for the live bands and DJs.

… And this doesn’t even begin to cover the vast array of pubs and clubs on offer in the resort! Tignes may be famous for its challenging pistes and diverse accommodation, but for those who want to venture outside their catered chalet, Tignes’ après-ski venues have plenty of fun and excitement in store.
