Beaches

The first thing you need to know is that the resort has one of the very best beaches onMenorca. Not only is it the longest, with around two and a half miles of wide, golden sands, itis also extremely well facilitated. The crystal clear waters are very family friendly due to thegently shelving nature of the beach, and it’s gained a coveted Blue Flag status for itscleanliness, safety and environmental standards. There’s all manner of water sportsavailable and the beach is also lined with cafes and restaurants.

As well as the main resort beach, it’s very easy to get to some of quieter, lesser-knowncoves and beaches of the surrounding area if you want to explore or enjoy a bit of variety.

Nature

For nature lovers, there are plenty of opportunities to get out into the great outdoors here.The resort backs on to a protected wetland conservation area, which plays host to a plethoraof visiting and migratory species of nesting and breeding birds. Encompassing about 80hectares of marshland, between the resort itself and the sand dunes behind it, El Prat wasformerly used for rice growing, but today is a truly thriving ecological site and a world-renowned place for bird-watchers. Even if you’re not an avid twitcher, the wetlands are awonderful place to take a stroll, and it’s hard not to get into the spirit of bird watching onceyou’re there!

History

As with everywhere around Menorca, there’s plenty of history on display if you want to findout more about the area’s heritage. You can visit the remains of the Roman Basilica, whichdates back to around 300-400AD and is located less than 10 minutes to the east. The resortis also only about 10 km from the prehistoric settlement of Torre d’en Galmes, a fascinatingTalayotic site that’s well worth a visit.

A Choice of Locations

If you’re considering a getaway to this lovely place, as you can see there’s not much chanceyou’ll be disappointed – no matter what your holiday style.
