Wouldn't it be great to take some time off and engage on one of the greatest road trips the world has to offer? Just imagine being in a position where you could take some friends across the great and diverse country known as Australia. It is such a huge land mass but it offers such biodiversity that you could be mistaken for being in any number of sub-tropical countries. Even one month is not long enough to see all that Australia has to offer. Here are a few suggestions that would surely contribute to an unforgettable experience down under.

Reef and Rainforest

This trip should take you about six action packed days. You would begin the journey in Cairns and will be driving northwards to Cape Tribulation, passing Port Douglas and Mossman. Whilst driving on this coast you will see the meeting of the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree rainforest. An amazing occurrence of two World Heritage sites existing alongside each other. Cape Tribulation is home to beautiful rainforests teaming with rare species of birds. The beaches are long and sandy and the swimming creeks are legendary. Your third day will find you driving towards Atherton Tablelands where you will pass Lake Barrine, a volcanic crater lake where you can experience a relaxing cruise. After spending day four at your leisure enjoying the beautiful waterfalls of Atherton Tablelands, you can rocket up to Mission Beach and enjoy the scenery along the way. Your last two days can be spent enjoying the spectacular scenery of Mission Beach and perhaps experiencing some white water rafting at nearby Tully River.

Red Centre Highlighter

This compact road trip should only take three days of your valuable time, but what a three days! You will begin in Alice Springs and head off towards Kings Canyon. You will see some truly awesome scenery as you drive through the deepest gorge in the Red Centre. Passing waterholes, palm trees and sheer rock walls you will marvel at the sight of the Lost City. Your second day will find you driving towards Ayers Rock, but don't forget to explore the thirty six domes of Kata-Tjuta on the way. Ayers Rock is the world's largest monolith and it reaches a peak of three hundred and forty eight meters! You can spend the third day exploring the Aboriginal carvings and paintings that adorn the Ayers rock base.

South West Splendour

Your tour begins in sunny Perth and you are heading south to Margaret River. You will pass through the Tuart Forest National Park and reach the town of Busselton.  It is situated on the shores of Geographe Bay which features the longest wooden jetty in the southern hemisphere. You will reach Margaret River on day two and can spend the next 48 hours exploring all she has to offer. It is recommended that you take the time to see the picturesque vineyards and beautiful rivers that abound this lovely green area. On your fifth day you will reach Albany which was Australia's first settlement and you should visit the fantastic whaling museum. Just remember to pack your suntan lotion and take plenty of photos!
