Sea Dragon Lodge Walks

Guests at Sea Dragon Lodge can enjoy several easy walks as follows:

Walk to Pink Bay (3 Minute Walk one way)
Pink Bay is a beautiful secluded beach just a few minutes’ walk from the Lodge and Villas. The walk is on a made track but is quite steep. Kangaroos and Wallabies are regularly seen on the short walk and in fact often hop on the beach. Seals and Dolphins are regular visitors to the bay and can be seen playing in the waves. Guests are able to enjoy the beach in complete privacy as they have private access to the beach. A small Gazebo with sun lounges offers a place for guests to relax, read a book or enjoy a bottle of wine.

Walk to Cape Willoughby Lighthouse (25 Minute walk one way)
Cape Willoughby Lighthouse built in the mid 1800’s is the oldest in South Australia. It is located at the tip of Cape Willoughby and the walk from sea Dragon Lodge is flat and follows Cape Willoughby Road. The 360o views from the lighthouse are spectacular and take in Backstairs Passage with views back to the mainland, as well as expansive views along the south coast of Kangaroo Island. Large male Kangaroos are regularly spotted lying under the casuarina trees lining Cape Willoughby Road.

Devils Kitchen (2 Minutes walk from Cape Willoughby)
Devils Kitchen is a large ravine in the cliff face near Cape Willoughby Lighthouse. It is most spectacular when the large southern ocean swells crash into it. It is also a great spot to watch the sunrise as it comes up over the lighthouse.

Wildlife Walk on Sea Dragon Lodge Estate (10-50 minutes depending on how far you walk)
The wildlife walk is best done an hour before sunset and guests will see numerous family groups of kangaroos and wallabies grazing in the pasture. They offer some great photo opportunities. Echidnas are regularly spotted, as are goannas, large eagles and hundreds of smaller birds. The walk is relatively flat and goes through a beautiful wooded valley and out onto our top paddock with lovely expansive views back to Cape Willoughby Lighthouse.
