The new 2015 Chrysler 300 received the highest award at the Texas Auto Roundup when it was named Car of Texas. The event was hosted by the Texas Auto Writers Association. Journalists test drove 54 vehicles from many different manufacturers, from subcompacts to minivans, at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth. After they voted for the best vehicles, the winners were announced at a dinner that evening.

The 2015 Chrysler 300 has an eight-speed automatic transmission and a V-6 engine with an optional V-8. It comes with rear-wheel drive, but you can add all-wheel drive if you choose the V-6. This is especially helpful in snow or ice. Standard safety features include a remote anti-theft alarm system, automatic headlights, daytime running lights, fog lights and electronic stability control. You also get a rear back-up camera and a universal garage door opener. Optional features include adaptive cruise control that can stop the car to avoid collisions and a lane departure warning system.

The luxurious leather interior has a full-color instrument panel for the driver, keyless entry, push-button start, heated front seats, eight-way power front seats, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, power windows and door locks and an optional sunroof. It also has an 8.4-inch touchscreen in the center console, Bluetooth, Uconnect Voice Command, Wi-Fi hotspot access and a USB port. Uconnect includes voice texting, automatic crash notification, and emergency roadside assistance. You can use it to stream your favorite Internet radio channels, including Pandora, Slacker and iHeartRadio. All models come with a year of SiriusXM Radio. You can also add premium Harmon Kardon speakers and Garmin navigation with 3-D graphics.

The sporty Chrysler 300S has 20-inch alloy wheels with performance tires, a performance tuned suspension, a Sport driving mode with shift paddles for the transmission, sport front bucket seats and remote start. The 300C adds chrome accents, natural wood interior trim, a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats and a driver's side auto-dimming mirror. Also included is a system to save settings for the radio, driver's seat and mirrors. The 300C Platinum adds even more features, with a touring-tuned suspension, additional chrome accents, heated and cooled front cup holders, extended leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped instrument panel and a Sport mode with shift paddles.

According to the EPA, the V-6 version of the 300 gets 19 mpg in the city, 31 mpg on the highway, and 23 mpg combined. With all-wheel drive, it gets 18 city, 27 highway/21 mpg combined. The V-8 models get 16/25/19. These are some of the leading figures in its class. No matter which model you choose, the Chrysler 300 provides a smooth, enjoyable ride and plenty of space.
