In Conversation With My Soaps

This morning, when someone randomly stopped me on the street to compliment my skin, I instantly thought of my mother lovingly. I inherited my healthy dusky skin from her. But it wasn’t always this way.

I remember in high school, all the fair girls were considered pretty and the dusky ones always got sidelined. I tried all kinds of home remedies and bought tons of fairness creams and face packs. Eventually over time, my skin started to crack, which my dermatologist informed me was from the excess heat from these fairness cosmetics. She told me that I have a beautiful skin shade and that instead of fairer skin; I should be aiming for healthier skin. She suggested that I try a natural soap like Doy Aloe Vera Soap as Aloe has exceptional remedial qualities when it comes to blemishes and dullness in skin. This was the first time I was trying something close to an herbal soap. I immediately felt a deep improvement in my skin and soon enough I forgot about my obsession with fairness.

Then I moved out of town for college in the mountains. It was just a very dry climate and my skin would get a bit chapped. I had a boyfriend and I was always embarrassed when he would try to hold my hands. So, I knew I had to get myself the best moisturizing soap ever! Milk products didn't sit well with me and that is why I couldn’t use moisturizers either, so I was recommended a glycerin based soap. I got Doy Tropical Twist Glycerin Soap for myself. Yes, the results were exceptional and I honestly think it is the best glycerin and best moisturizing soap! My boyfriend would often even joke that he got a new girlfriend when touched my skin afterwards.

Then I moved towns for work, where my skin was subjected to heat and dust. With the change in climate I thought I’d get myself a mild soap for sensitive skin for the transitional period and let my skin acclimatize. I got Doy Honey Glow Soap. Okay, by now you probably know I am a Doy loyalist, and why wouldn’t I be? I’ve had the best experience with these soaps, and I have really come to trust the brand. And yes, the soap was just great for my skin overall and even though I had initially planned to change after a while, I really stuck with this one for a long time.

Anyway, remember my boyfriend from college? Yes, we got married two years ago and have a beautiful baby girl now. She too has got my dusky looks and I am determined to ensure that she never has a moment of doubt or insecurity in her head. Obviously, there is no doubt in my mind as to what the best baby soap is. For her, I am going to get Doy kids soap in the Lion shape because I’d love to get her imagination kickstarted and for her skin to be super clean and smooth after a bath!

Oh, if I could just tell my girl, she’s in for a ride.
