London is full of some superb views – find some of the best free viewing spots right by your student accommodation.

The great thing about London’s superb skyline is that there are so many vantage points from which you can experience its true beauty. These places are located all over the city, so it’s not difficult to find one near to your student accommodation. Londonis famous for its iconic buildings, and you’ll be able to see a huge number of these from viewing locations not too far from where you’re staying.

Another plus is that so many of these viewpoints require you to spend nothing at all. Whilst there are plenty of areas in the city which would charge a hefty fee just for enjoying the view, here are some great spots that you won’t have to break the bank to visit.

Greenwich Park (South)

If you’re over in the South of the city, then Greenwich Park will be the best place to enjoy some fantastic views close by to your student accommodation. Londonis of course home to so many exciting attractions, and you can find plenty of these in the park too, including the Greenwich Maritime World Heritage site, the Prime Meridian Line and the Royal Observatory.

In terms of reaching Greenwich Park from accommodation areas such as Dulwich, Greenwich or Blackheath, the best way to get there is on foot or by bus. Alternatively, you could take the riverboat.

The Sky Garden (the City)

The Sky Garden sits at the top of one of the capital’s iconic buildings, the Walkie Talkie, and attracts visitors all year round. The beautiful landscape gardens are protected by a dome from above, so you’ll be able to enjoy these even when the weather isn’t ideal.

An open-air terrace and some fantastic observation decks mean that this is one of the best places in London to look out at the skyline. You can enjoy the views for free but keep in mind that you’ll need to book your tickets in advance. Get there by tube, bus, train or on foot – the closest tube station is Monument, which is on the District Line.

The People’s Palace (North)

The People’s Palace (Alexandra Palace) is another ideal spot for enjoying views of the capital, particularly for those living in north London student accommodation. Londonis home to some great venues showcasing British culture, and The People’s Palace is one of the finest – it is so-called because the Royal Family have never lived there. This site is easily accessible by train.
