How Was The Quran Revealed?

This post will shed light on how the Quran was revealed. If you’re interested in learning how it came down to Muslims!

The Quran is the holy book of Muslims that perfects the religion. The Quran, as a whole, was sent down to the Prophet (peace be upon him). Nonetheless, it did not come down on Earth at once.

How was it revealed, the years it took, and the essence of it are discussed below -

The holy text of Islam, the Qur'an, was revealed to Prophet Muhammad over 23 years, beginning with the first revelation at Mount Hira. After his passing, the Prophet's successors collected these divine revelations in a manuscript.

Several verses from the Holy Quran Pak testify to the claim of gradual revelation.

  • In chapter 25, verse 32, Allah says that the Quran was sent down in parts and revealed gradually in stages!
  • Chapter 17, verse 106, states that the Quran has been split up into different parts to recite at intervals. And it has been revealed in stages.

The Quran Was Revealed Piecemeal

The suspension of the Revelation in relation to the slander event (al-ifk), in which 'Aishah, wife of the Prophet, was accused of adultery, is evidence that the Quran was revealed piecemeal. Due to the severity of the catastrophe and the accusations against his wife, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) waited for Quranic verses to be revealed until Allah revealed a verse that testified the innocence of Aisha.

How Was The Quran Conveyed to the Prophet?

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) heard it with his ears and understood it with his heart because Jibril, the Angel of Revelation who brought it to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), only heard it from the Lord of Glory, Allah.

The Quran today is available in different languages and texts for easy understanding. You can also get the Holy AI Quran which is easier to read for tech-savvy people!

Through a variety of channels, Allah revealed to His Prophets and Messengers. The different narrations show that the revelation that comes through Jibreel (as) is divinely delivered to Jibreel from Allah. Jibreel then gives the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) that revelation personally, just as he did with the Qur'an. It was challenging for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to receive this form of revelation.
