Miniature Bunnies Are Hoppin’ In The Fairy Garden

In our home, my husband is lovingly nicknamed “Benny the Bunny” and our little seven-month-old daughter is “Little Bunny”—a nickname picked due to their sweet and likable natures. When I started to plan my next miniature garden, I wanted something that would be a caring gift to my husband and pay homage to our little baby daughter. With the upcoming Easter holiday, creating a fairy garden with miniature accessories that celebrated this time of year with bunnies and magic seemed like the ideal choice.

When it came to an upcoming holiday, I wanted to make sure that I captured the theme perfectly. I sought out miniature accessories and miniature plants that entertained the pastel color palette.  I also desired bunnies and fairies that complemented the Easter holiday. My favorite part of creating a miniature garden has always been picking out the fairies, which have enhanced my green space because they added a magical element. This garden was no exception.

I love the idea of selecting a fairy house that celebrates the theme that I am trying to capture in my tiny garden. The house that I chose called, Rabbit Hutch, is a red home with a blue door and it has a sign on the side of the wall written with the words, “The Hop Inn.” I decorated the outside walls of the fairy house with many flowering plants such as Armeria juniperifolia and ‘Ageratum.' Both of these miniature plants have a dense green base with brightly colored flowers popping out of the stems. I included a white picket fence, bordering the garden space so that the bunnies blended into the scene. In addition, I wanted to find a fairy that matched and honored the relationship between the miniature garden fairies and animals. My favorite fairy has to be Blossom the Fairy and Bunny, because she is a young fairy girl in a pink dress holding a small brown bunny. The last step was to make it look as if a family of rabbits was hoppin' around in the fairy garden.

For my garden, I could not resist the Nose-to-Nose Bunnies that looked to me like a parent and child were giving each other a nose kiss. I also thought the Garden Bunnies would look charming in the vegetable patch planted next to the bunnies’ home. Sharing the fairy garden with my husband and daughter will be a special treat this Easter holiday.
