What Do These Seo Terms Mean?

Let's talk about some terms and condition about SEO

  • SEO

Here are some terms that you often hear bandied about when people are talking about SEO (Search Engine Optimization). These are the terms that lots of people use without fully understanding their specific meaning or the “workings” behind them.

  •  Search Term

A search term is basically a word or string of words that people put into a search engine. They are often referred to as keywords, key-phrases, or long-tailed keywords. They all mean pretty much the same thing. A keyword would be one word that may be entered into a search engine, such as “Houses.” A key-phrase may be something such as “Houses for sale,” and a long-tailed keyword may be something such as “Houses for sale in Boston.”

  • Search Engine Results

When you enter your keyword(s) into a search engine, you are presented with a list of links. These are your results. They are not websites that are stored on the search engine; they are just links to certain websites. Only the links and certain information is actually hosted on the search engine website servers. The websites themselves have their own hosts.

  • Search Site

These are websites that have a search engine tool on them. They are used by people to find websites that are within the search engine’s index. Google, Bing and Yahoo are the most popular search engine websites at the moment. Their search engines have an index that rates websites on how useful they may be to the user. The user types in a few words (keywords), and the search engine provides results in the form of a list of links to the most useful websites.

  • Search System

People often refer to this as a search engines algorithm, but that is an over simplification of a much larger process. The search engines work using a program. One part of it crawls the information on a website, and another part puts the information into an index and then rates it. But, the whole system involves software, hardware, and human intervention. When you use a search engine, you are actually seeing the results of a search system. It is important that you know this because it explains why your website may rank highly on one website and not so high on another.

  • Natural Search Results

These are the search results you see on your search engine when you enter keywords. These are the ones that have been paid to appear. It is possible to pay to have your website listed at the top of the search results, or in the sidebar of the search engine results. Natural search results are also known as organic or algorithmic search results, and they are the reason why people concentrate on their website’s SEO.
