Moses Resume

By Joseph Parish

Today I received an urgent request for help from a long-forgotten friend from the past. It would appear that my old friend Moses badly needed a resume created. Not a problem at all I thought, so I quickly jotted down some vital facts and got on writing the resume immediately. I don’t think he would mind me sharing this with my friends so here it is.

Cover Letter for Moses’ Resume

Name: Moshe (Moses) Rabbeinu Son of Amram

Address: Mount Nebo

Date: 1400 BC

To Whom It May Concern:

I am interested in the Prophet's position being offered by your company as advertised. I am currently employed as a Major Prophet in Biblical Midian as mentioned in the Torah. This northwest Arabian Peninsula region is on the east shore of the Gulf of Aqaba along the Red Sea. My goal is to locate a position with a more challenging future.

Although I am familiar with the Midianite civilization, I am still not sure which deities they worship. There appears to be a connection with the Moabites which are often thought to worship a multitude of gods. You will likely recall that I spent a period of forty years in exile after I killed an Egyptian man who was attacking a Hebrew gentleman. My wife is the daughter of Jethro, a priest of Midian. It is my firm belief that I can bring the word of our true God to these people and save them from damnation, if I am hired as a prophet.

I am not proud of what I had previously done to these people. We attacked these individuals and killed every male, while making all the women and children prisoners. I condemned the women as the reason that there was a problem between the Israelites and the Midianites and it was upon my order that every woman who had previously slept with a man was set to be killed, but unfortunately there were 32,000 virgin girls who were kept by us as slaves. Given the opportunity to be a prophet for these people, I believe I can make it up to them and convert them to our God.

As a leader in the Israelites, I have developed strong writing skills. For example, one of my main duties was to address the laws and explain them to the people. This duty required meticulous reading and writing skills with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly. I am confident that my experience with the Midianite civilization and my strong writing skills qualify me for consideration. You will find a copy of my resume enclosed. I look forward to finally meeting with you in person and having a formal discussion concerning the points made of my qualifications.

Sincerely,

Moshe (Moses) Rabbeinu

Goals and Objective

My objective in obtaining this position is to become a proficient prophet within the boundaries of another country where God's message might be heard and accepted by the masses. I feel that I have sufficient skills and experience to complete the job assignments in a beneficial manner.

Miracles Performed

Below are some of the documented miracles which I have performed:

* I turned my rod into a serpent and then back into a rod.

* My hand turned to a leprous state and back to normal again.

* The Red Sea was parted. (One of my favorite ones)

* My people were hungry so they were fed with quail.

* I struck the rock of Horeb in order to produce water for my people.

* Some complaining Hebrew people were burning up by fire set by the Lord until I intervened with prayer.

* One of my finest miracles, however was when I appeared on the mount of transfiguration with Jesus.

Career Highlights

Throughout my life I have usually been at the wrong place at the wrong time. An example of this was the time when I encountered a burning bush. Most people would have ignored such a phenomenon, however upon spotted the fire and noticing that it failed to burn, invigorated my character to investigate it further. I have on occasion leaped into a physical fight in order to defend a Hebrew slave along with refereeing a struggle between several of my kinsmen when they had a disagreement. I have mentioned this downfall with a bit of embarrassment, however since my younger days I have since mellowed my character out and although I have not stopped reacting, I have managed to react properly. Anger management does wonders.

One of my greatest achievements has been to lead two million of my fellow kinsmen into the desert from Egyptian slavery. Most of my long life I have served primarily as a buffer between God and his people. In my favor there has been a time when I found it necessary to intervene as a result of God's anger at his people's forgetfulness and stubborn attitude while in other issues it was I who reacted to my people's complaining at something God has done. I feel that a person in a leadership position must adequately develop their ability to react. It is my understanding that if we are to effectively react with any sort of consistent instinct with God, we must dedicate ourselves completely to his obedience.

Strengths and Weaknesses

* I received an outstanding Egyptian education and as we all know the Ancient Egyptian training was the finest that would be found during my life.

“I was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was powerful in words and in deeds.”

* Additionally, I have extensive experience in desert training spanning a period of 40 years.

* My peers have rated me as one of the greatest Jewish leaders in history.

* It was I who set the pace for the great exodus movement.

* I was assigned by the God all mighty to be a prophet, lawgiver, and the recorder of the Ten Commandments.

All this patting myself on the back is not free of negative entries by any means. In fact, I failed to enter the Promised Land simply because I disobeyed the Lord God.
