Two New Locations

For the first time ever, the historic Central Station and the Goods Line Tunnel will be part of Vivid Sydney. Light installations, 3D projections, thrilling music concerts and more will be held across  station buildings and along the revitalised walkway. Two of the city’s most notable institutions nearby, Powerhouse Museum and The University of Technology Sydney, will also be in the spotlight, hosting many events, including the Vivid ideas Exchange. The Tunnel will act as a portal to a world of lasers, lights and smoke effects as part of Convergence, which will leave the guests in awe as they venture deeper into the underground. Also as a free event, you can catch the DJs at The Good Line event, where a new DJ sets the tune every night among the Light Walk.

Vivid Sydney Dinner

The festival organisers, this year, not only celebrates the creative roots of the city, but also of the resilience of Sydneysiders during the pandemic, its cultural diversity and culinary excellence as well. Two of the most decorated chefs in the city have been called upon to join forces for what will be another festival first, Vivid Sydney Dinner. They will be behind the magical dishes on June 4th when the Ivy Ballroom gets vivified with lights, music and ideas. This event celebrates the “Soul of the City”, through a special menu that evokes the best of Sydney, along with local entertainers and musicians, who will take you on an uplifting journey throughout the evening.

Vivid Ideas

Vivid Ideas brings together some of the most brilliant and creative minds of the world and Australia, to put together provoking discussions, debates and workshops that help expand our perceptions. The curbing of restrictions means that the organisers can now assemble thinkers and innovators from every corner of the planet to dive deeper into cutting-edge and controversial topics. This year’s standout event comes from Baz Luhrmann, a master filmmaker, who will share his visionary ideas about how he revolutionised the movie scene with imaginary powers that transcend beyond art. The award-winning storyteller also unravels everything about what inspired him to make the upcoming blockbuster ‘ELVIS’ and how it transpired in the end.
