Editor’s Pick: Three Luxury Algarve Golf Hotels

There is nowhere better to improve your game and indulge than the Algarve.

In my humble opinion, there is nowhere better for a relaxing golf vacation than the Algarve. Golf holidays here are well suited to all abilities due to the huge range of courses throughout the region, so it is no surprise that it attracts enthusiasts from around the world each year.

I also like to recommend this destination as there are a handful of wonderful hotels in the Algarve. Golf holidays are not complete without a top-quality hotel to retire to after a day of playing in the sun. You cannot go wrong with any of the following luxury properties.

Hotel Quinta do Lago

This lovely hotel is perfect for those seeking luxury and sophistication thanks to the range of excellent facilities and the fact that it is nestled in the heart of the Ria Formosa Nature Park by the sea. It features indoor and outdoor (seasonal) heated pools, a wide selection of inviting restaurants (including a Michelin star one) and an exclusive area at the gorgeous Quinta do Lago beach.

In addition to this, Hotel Quinta do Lago is found in one of Europe’s most prestigious golf resorts. It features four championship courses within the estate and another twelve nearby, so there is always a new challenge to try and all against a beautiful backdrop. It also features fantastic practice facilities so that you can brush up on your game before teeing off.

Dona Filipa

Those looking to settle into an extravagant home away from home ought to take a look at Dona Filipa. The Ocean Suites feature a huge balcony with stunning views out to sea along with a stylish open plan living room and modern bathroom complete with a rain shower and double-ended bath. The Platinum Suite, meanwhile, provides the perfect place for unwinding after a round of 18. This luxury suite contains an opulent living area, spacious bedroom and bathroom that features heated flooring, marble fixtures and a large walk-in shower.

The convenient location at Dona Filipa provides easy access to ten prestigious and award-winning courses so there is great variety and the ability to take you game to the next level here. Additionally, guests can take advantage of a range of benefits when playing San Lorenzo and Pinheiros Altos.

Hilton Vilamoura

Hilton Vilamoura is a popular choice thanks to its magnificent facilities and picturesque setting within five acres of landscaped gardens. The hotel features six large pools with cascading waterfalls and Portugal’s largest spa – a great way to unwind after a few rounds. Hilton Vilamoura also has a range of dining facilities and spacious, modern rooms or suites with great views over the gardens and pool.

Another pulling factor is the fact that you get to tee off each day at the famous Pinhal Course which was designed by renowned architect Frank Pennink. The course has breathtaking ocean views within a lush landscape, but don’t let this distract you as this is also a challenging round with carefully placed bunkers and a number of tricky yet fun water hazards to keep in mind.

These are three of the best luxury hotels in the Algarve. Golf holidays here are a great chance to take your game to the next level and play some of the finest courses in Europe before retiring to your hotel to unwind and indulge.
