Situated in the Mediterranean Sea, Menorca is truly an unspoiled paradise and was named a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1993. Es Grau

The lovely laid back local village of Es Grau is a lovely place to visit if you’re staying near by. The iconic white-washed buildings on the edge of the S’Albufera des Grau nature reserve complement the well-preserved surrounding landscape. Es Grau makes for a fantastic place for families to visit on a day trip, with the opportunity to engage in all kinds of activities from birdwatching to kayaking, paddle-boarding and snorkelling. 

Taking advantage of the abundant water sports is a great way to spend the day with the family, with the scenic shallows of the surrounding beaches, along with the opportunity to discover a host of smaller coves that mark the coastline. This includes spots such as Cala de sa Torreta and Cala des Tamarells, which are among the most spectacular. 

Mahón

Mahón is the capital of the island and its Old Town is one of the most popular and picturesque locations for visitors to explore. Overlooking the harbour, the centre of the city is dotted with 18th century buildings and miradors (viewpoints) that give access to amazing views over the sea and the rest of the island from various vantage points on the cliff.

For those on family holidays in Menorca, Mahón promises a range of activities to keep everyone occupied, including the excellent Museum of Menorca. There are also plenty of locations to sample the local cuisine – from high quality restaurants to the local market that can be found within the Carme Church. 

Cala Galdana

Cala Galdana, situated on the south coast of the island, is one of the most popular resorts in Menorca. While it is particularly well-known amongst tourists, Cala Galdana has been able to maintain a tranquil serenity in keeping with other small towns across the island. With beaches, restaurants, shops and hotels, an entire day could be spent exploring all this lovely region has to offer. There are a number of family-friendly activities that include crazy golf and a water slide in one of the beachside restaurants.  

Alcaufar

Alcaufar is a fishing village located on the east coast of Menorca, which provides a tranquil escape on its beautiful shoreline. With a beach, a small port for local fishing boats and a serene ambience, Alcaufar is definitely worth exploring.

It’s a great spot for families, being just a 10 minute drive away from Splash Sur – the island’s largest waterpark.
