La Plagne Chalets: A Great Option For Family Ski Holidays

If you’re searching for the best destination for a family ski holiday, look no further than La Plagne. Chalet options here are child-friendly, the slopes are gentle, and there are plenty of fun activities to take part in both on and off the mountains.

In fact, as well as catering specifically to young children with nursery slopes and some special snow zones full of fairies and dragons, the large amount of wide red and blue runs here are ideal for beginner and intermediate skiers.

Most villages in the area are also pedestrianised, and you can easily access the vast majority of the lifts on foot, too.

Still not convinced? Here’s why you should choose this fantastic resort.

Ski Schools

When you’re skiing with youngsters looking to build their confidence, you want to know they are safe and in good hands. A range of ski schools operate here and they are fully equipped to teach children from ages three and up.

The instructors speak English and, thanks to the excellent combination of gentle slopes, ski gardens, baby tow ropes and carpet lifts, you can rest assured the children will be learning how to ski while having a lot of fun and being well looked after.

Tricks on the Slopes

There are more than just easy pistes to enjoy here. Near the Arpette lift in Plagne Bellecote you’ll find an area called ‘The Fun Slope’.

Exactly as it sounds, this section of the mountain is highly entertaining. Young skiers will enjoy riding through the course’s bank waves, trying out the little jumps, and racing through the twisters and snow tubes.

Even if you don’t fancy an adrenaline rush yourselves, you can head over to the Belle Plagne snow park to admire tricks being pulled off by freestyle skiers and boarders of all levels. If you time it right, there may even be a competition taking place.

Activities Off the Slopes

There are plenty of options for suitably wintery activities off the slopes, too. Here is just a small selection of everything on offer:

  • Guided tours from the ice cave at Bellecote will take your family on a walk to and from the glacier. (You’ll be provided with the special crampons you need to get a good grip on the ice.)

  • In Plagne Bellecote, you can make the most of an outdoor skating rink and discover the nearby ice sculpture park.

  • Home of the ice climbing world cup, Champagny boasts many frozen waterfalls around the valley. Although that’s spectacular enough in itself, an added bonus is that anyone 10 years or older can give climbing the artificial version a go.

  • Those with older children may be interested in a trip to France’s only international standard bobsleigh track. It’s a little on the pricier side of entertainment, but it makes for an unforgettable experience!

Where to Stay

The La Plagne chalets are an excellent choice for those families in need of child-friendly accommodation.

With catered options available, it’s easy to make the most of your getaway in La Plagne. Given its top-notch ski schools, slopes, accommodation and activities, you can see why this is fast becoming a destination of choice for families.
