Family Fun On And Off The Slopes In La Rosiere

With a great range of pistes, restaurants and accommodation, there are few places better for a family ski holiday than La Rosiere. Catered chalets take away the stress of finding somewhere to eat every night, and a huge range of facilities and activities will ensure no-one in the family gets bored.

Add in all the beautiful scenery and invigorating fresh air you’d expect from the Alps, and you’ve got the recipe for a perfect holiday. Read on to learn more …

A Range of Pistes for All Abilities

Part of the massive Espace San Bernardo ski area, the resort is linked with its Italian neighbour La Thuile, and visitors get access to a range of pistes around both resorts.

While there are some more challenging red and black runs, a huge proportion of the runs are suitable for beginners – of 77 in total, 33 are rated appropriate for those just starting out.

Even better, there are a lot of opportunities to get better. Wide, gentle blues offer a lot of space to practice your technique, and there are intermediate reds to graduate up to when you feel ready.

Fun Themed Pistes

On top of this, there are also fun themed pistes that kids will love. The Funcross circuit is a brilliant adventure park a full kilometre long, themed around St Bernard dogs.

While the cuddly mascots make a great focus, the best thing about this course is all the activities on offer, including gongs to ring as you go past and even a tunnel shaped like a dog’s mouth. It’s perfect for younger kids especially, and can be a great way to keep them excited and interested as well as have some fun together on the slopes.

Ski School

Of course, while it’s great to hit the piste together as a family, it’s always good for adults and children to spend a little time apart.

Luckily, the resort has you covered, with great ski school options in place to give the children space to socialise and improve their skills – and to give adults the time to try out some of the harder runs.

Frankly, it’s win-win: parents get some time to take on the more difficult slopes or relax, and the young ones are almost guaranteed to come away more confident on the snow than they were before.

Places to Eat

From affordable pizzas on the Italian side of the border to excellent Savoyard cuisine on the French, the area offers plenty of options to tuck into some great food, with even the higher-market eateries often providing children’s menus.

A La Rosiere catered chaletwill keep you satisfied for breakfast and dinner, and many will offer a cold lunch to take out on the slopes with you. If you want some hot food, though, there’s more than enough available to motivate even the most tired and grumpy children to finish a difficult run.

Excellent Activities

Finally, as with all the best resorts, you’ll find a huge range of activities on offer. There are plenty of opportunities to meet people and make friends, and there’s a great range of places to spend time for all ages.

On top of this, you can also try out a climbing wall, see a magic show and even go dog sledding. The town also puts on quieter activities most nights, including snowball fights and roasting marshmallows over an open fire.

All in all, it’s a great chance to show the kids the best parts of a winter wonderland they just wouldn’t be able to see anywhere else.

Where to Stay

There are a lot of options in the resort, but to truly get the most out of La Rosiere, catered chalet options are the way to go, providing you with a good atmosphere while taking away the stress of cooking and cleaning.

We hope this has gotten you excited for a family holiday – if it has, why not book up now?
