Tenerife transfers are on offer to take you up to the beautiful, secluded village of Masca.

In a lot of ways, Tenerife is the perfect holiday destination. It’s sunny pretty much all year round, with long days and warm nights well into the winter. As you’d expect, it’s very popular – especially among sun-starved Brits. But it’s got more to offer than just the standard tourist resorts. Read on to learn about the perfect hidden village of Masca, plus some tips on how to get to Tenerife. Transfers and flights are both readily available, so you’ve got no reason not to book now!

The Region

Despite their small size, the Canary Islands’ location in the eastern Atlantic gives them some pretty striking geographical diversity. As the largest of the bunch, Tenerife boasts this even more than the others. While the south is arid and dusty, the northwest, which is home to the village of Masca, is lush and green.

As you get closer to the village, you’ll travel into increasingly rugged landscape. Mountain peaks become visible, rising up over the horizon to provide a stunning backdrop. As you continue on, the rolling hills are split by deep gorges and valleys, their rocky edges pleasingly blunted by thick vegetation.

Everyone who visits is struck by the natural beauty of Tenerife. Transfer yourself to an island paradise and see it for yourself.

The Village

Deep in the heart of this breathtaking countryside lies the village of Masca. A small settlement nestled in the Teno Massif, Masca is often considered the single prettiest spot in the Canaries. It has only 100 permanent inhabitants, but it’s a popular stop on many tourist trips, so there are more than enough shops and restaurants to keep you occupied.

Luckily, none of this has compromised Masca’s old-world charm. It feels more like a simple connection of houses than a full-fledged town – almost as if it’s only just establishing itself.

Part of this is due to its relative isolation. Although new routes have connected it to the towns of Santiago in the south and Buenavista del Norte in the north, the main route in still involves climbing a steep, twisting mountain road. Between the sharp hairpin bends and the dirt-track surface, this journey is a real adventure.

But don’t let that scare you off Tenerife: transfersare still readily available from many points all over the island so you won’t have to do the drive yourself.

Activities and Sights

Masca’s main attraction is its location. Visitors can take in a jaw-dropping view down Masca Gorge, and the more adventurous among them can traverse the intense three-hour hike down to the ocean. Once there, you’re rewarded with clear waters and a pristine beach – the perfect way to cool off. From there, boat trips onwards or car journeys back to the town are available.

How to Get There

Due to its popularity, the island boasts two airports; one on the north and one on the south. Both are well-served with regular, affordable flights from the UK, and a journey from London takes only around four hours. You’re best off landing in the north, as it’s closer to Masca, but Tenerife transfersare plentiful, with good operators able to take you to most destinations from either airport.

For a beautiful, virtually untouched travel destination, consider Masca.
