Recipes That You Can Fix Quickly

Want to cook some lip-smacking food but the idea of a long list of ingredients and lengthy preparation time scares you?

You’ll be surprised to know that there are innumerable recipes that you can fix in just 30 minutes. Most of the ingredients in such long recipes are spices. Once you have your essentials stocked in your pantry, you’ll be ready to use them whenever you want. Many recipes are easily modified on the basis of vegetables available. 1. Lemon Rice

Lemon Rice is one of the common dishes in South India. It is often served with yogurt, raita or koshimbir. It is one of those recipes where you cook plain rice separately or use leftover plain rice and spruce it up to give a beautiful delicious flavour. To make lemon rice, you’ll need some coriander powder, mustard seeds, curry leaves, peanuts, ginger, green chilies, lemon, and rice. Start with heating the pan and add a teaspoon of oil, mustard seeds, and green chilies. Let the mustard seeds pop, add ginger, peanuts and coriander powder. Let the peanuts roast for some time, and when done add some turmeric powder while putting the burner off. Now squeeze an entire lemon and add the rice and mix well. Garnish as desired.

2. Egg Curry

Egg Curry is one such dish that can be made in innumerable styles and each of them will taste unique and yummy. People often make the gravy ahead in time and freeze it. That way, when the time comes to cook, you only have to boil the eggs and add the gravy. To make the gravy, you’ll need onions, tomatoes, boiled eggs, ground khada masala, everyday spice rack, ginger-garlic paste, and green chilies. Start with heating the pan while adding two tablespoons of oil. Add chopped onions and cook until they are golden brown. Post that, add chopped tomatoes, and green chilies. Grind this entire cooked mixture in a food processor. In that remaining oil, add the paste you just made, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, mix and fry until the oil separates. Add two cups of water, bring it to boil and then add boiled eggs that are cut into half. And done.

3. Basic Chicken Curry

If you haven’t had a curry that is made with individual spices and garam masala, instead of the store-bought curry powder; then you haven’t had curry at all. Although this recipe may be basic, North-Indian chicken curry recipe; you can feel free to add your own flavours to it. You’ll need chicken pieces of your choice, onions, tomatoes, ginger-garlic paste, chili powder, garam masala, cinnamon powder, turmeric, cumin powder, salt, and coriander powder. In a pan, heat oil, add sliced onions and cook them until golden brown. Post that, add diced tomatoes, ginger-garlic paste and let it cook. Grind this entire mixture in a food processor and put the paste in the pan again. Now add chili powder, turmeric, cinnamon powder, cumin powder, garam masala, and chicken. Add 2 cups of water and let the chicken cook for 15 mins. Serve with hot chapatis or naan.
