What You Need To Consider Before Building A Business Website

Having a website is important for business, but there are a few things to consider before building it for business.

Starting a business is already a difficult decision, since building a business requires a lot of efforts, not to mention spending money and thinking how to avoid over-budget as well. Now just when you decided you wanted to start a business, the expert you consulted to suggested that you also create a website for your business and you were like, “How much money will it cost again?” Well, I don’t and I won’t blame you if you don’t feel like hiring some web development team to build your website because yes, it may cost you more money. However, let me tell you this; it’s worth it. Having a website is like having many employees ready to represent your business and implement your marketing strategy online and 24/7 at that. Why? That’s because a website never sleeps. It works 24 hours a day and will continue working for the rest of its life…only if you do it the right way. So, how useful is a website for a business? Well, a website can help your potential buyers find your business through search engines. Also, a website can help your potential buyers and returning buyers understand your business and products more clearly and know what you are up to next. Certainly, this can increase your brand awareness and its credibility. Sounds good, right? Yes, like I said, it’s worth it. However, there are things you should consider before building your business website. Keep reading this article to find out!

First, determine what you want to do

Many business owners don’t truly understand what they want when they set up a website – particularly if doing so by themselves. It’s very easy to get it wrong and create an unsearchable blog when you actually want a functioning platform that is capable of accepting payments or bookings. In layman’s term, you might be hiring some random web developer team, paying them to build a website without knowing the first thing about a website and what it can actually do for your business. While web development team don’t know what you want, they might just build a website for you; however, you might not get the results you want because you don’t specify them with the team.

Next, put yourself in your future customers’ shoes

The first point is determining what you want to do. Now, find out what your future customers want to do. The best way to find out what they want is by putting yourself in their shoes. If you were looking for a product, let’s say, a wallet, you might want to search Google using specific keywords that could give you results containing websites that were selling wallets, right? Then, you found a website that was selling wallets. What would you want to find in that website? Yes, of course, you would want to find the list of products as well as the prices. Before that, however, you might want to know more about the seller, right? You didn’t want to end up being scammed, so you needed to know whether the seller was a real person truly selling the wallet you have always wanted and whether or not you should trust the seller. For that reason, you would look at the “About Us” page and of course, their contact information and locations.

Know what your customers might hate in a website

What is the first thing you would hate the moment you are visiting a website? Yes, first, it would be the slow loading page. I hate slow loading pages too and if I ever came to a website that didn’t take me to the destined page in 3 seconds, I would totally lose it and close the tab. However, that’s not the only thing people hate in a website. These are the things you might not want to see in a website:

  1.  Slow loading pages
  2. Too much content
  3. Text that is not readable
  4. Photos that won’t load
  5.  Large-sized photos that are not adjusted to your device
  6. Unresponsive website
  7. Inconsistent content

There are many things to consider before building a website. However, the ones I have mentioned above are the most common and the most important parts you need to consider before even continuing to the next stage of your business. Once you understand this, you are ready to start your business.
