In the survey 53% of drivers stated that they will use an app while they are driving. Of course, we don’t know if this is a navigation app or not. There were 20% of people who stated that they would not be able to get to work without an app. 19% of the people questioned stated that they would not be able to maintain a relationship if it were not for apps.

Perhaps the most revealing statistic of app addiction from this study is the number of people who would not feel happy if they did not use an app during the day. There are 23% of the surveyed people who stated that they feel this way. This clearly shows that there is an increasing dependence on apps to make people happy and this is what happens with addiction.

Why We are App Addicted?

There is an increase in app dependence and this leads to an increase in app addiction. The question should be why are we becoming so addicted to apps? One of the reasons why could be the vast number of apps that are available. There are at least two apps in the App Store and on Google Play that can do something for you. When you are addicted to apps you are going to get application that you use once or that you never actually use. This means that they sit on your phone and you do nothing with them. When you implement a holding period you should place all new apps into a special folder. You then need to set aside a day when you will review the folder and delete any apps that you have not used or are not interested in using.

The key to having a successful holding system is to be brutal in your execution. If you have not used an app then do not assume that you will use it in the future. Delete any apps that you are not using otherwise you are feeding your addiction and this is something you should be avoiding.

App addiction is something that is becoming a problem with the increased use of smartphones. The problem is that even with the apps that help us; we are becoming dependent on them. The fact that people cannot get to work without an app shows us just how dependent we are becoming.
