Adrenaline Fuelled Fun In The Sun On Menorca Family Holidays

Thanks to its expansive natural beauty, Menorca was declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve back in 1993. Given these breath-taking views, even just sunbathing is a pretty incredible way to pass the time—but there are plenty of exciting activities to keep children and teens entertained, too!

Water-based activities are the perfect complement to the summer heat. You get to discover the island from the gentle Mediterranean waters, with the sun on your backs as you gaze at the stunning backdrop of flora, cliffs and nature reserves.

And, with so many fun activities on offer, you can see why more and more people are choosing to spend their summer in Menorca. Family holidays don’t get much better than this!

Guided Snorkelling Tour in the Marine Reserve

Menorca certainly isn’t short of great snorkelling spots. With so many secluded coves and sheltered sandy beaches, the island is a choice destination for families with young swimmers looking to build their confidence. But there are plenty of snorkelling options for the more adventurous families with older children, as well.

In the north of the island you’ll find an underwater paradise. The marine reserve is home to groupers, moray eels, mullets, squids and you may even spot a starfish. If you’re up for an adventure during your Menorca family holiday, book onto one of the guided tours on offer.

Paddle Tour from Cala Torret

For a slightly longer trip out in the waters, why not try your hand at mastering a stand-up paddle boat?

Guided tours run from the bay at Cala Torret to the Binibeca Vell fishing village. Along the way you’ll discover caves and fabulous marine life, and be able to look back toward the coast to get the best views of the island. There’ll be plenty of opportunity to hop off the paddle and snorkel around, as well.

Kayak Tours

While many of the island’s beaches have rows of kayaks available to hire, there is more than one way to get on board with the trend. Kayak tours, complete with guides who’ll take you to all of the most breath-taking places can be picked up easily from several coastal locations, including:

  • Cala Torret

  • Santo Tomás

  • Fornells

This is a very relaxing way of getting out on the water to explore around the island.

Where to Stay

After wearing yourselves during the day with all these fun activities, the last thing you want to do is return to sub-par accommodation. To keep spirits high during your Menorca family holidays, the very best idea is to book a comfortable villa for the duration of your stay.

There will be plenty of space for all the family, so you can get as much quality time in as possible. Having a kitchen will provide the much-needed flexibility of self-catering, so while you’re in Menorca, family holiday time (and your wallets) won’t be eaten up by dining in restaurants.

As you can see, there is so much to see and do here. Whichever of these activities you choose, though, you’re sure to have a blast relaxing in the sun and the sea.

Just don’t forget to pack wisely and stock up on plenty of decent sunscreen because you’re going to need it!
