Off-Piste and Off the Beaten Track in La Rosiere

Discover your wild side in La Rosiere. Strap on your skis and leave the crowds behind as you go off the beaten track.

The village-like resort of La Rosiere comprises of a charming collection of Alpine-inspired buildings that fit perfectly into the stunning natural setting. It is a great destination for ski holidays, giving keen skiers access to thrilling off-piste areas amongst the snowy peaks above La Rosiere. Catered chalet options and great bars and cafes make this a fantastic place for groups of ski fanatics looking to hit the slopes and hang out with friends.

Off-Piste Adventures

True powder hounds who love the feeling of freedom that comes with skiing will adore La Rosiere. This region is spectacularly beautiful – you can glance up and see the peaks of Mont Pourri and Mont Blanc watching over you as you race downhill – and, most importantly, offers opportunities to leave the beaten track behind.

The Zittieux snow cross (a secured, non-groomed area) is the perfect place to experience the thrill of venturing off-piste. Although it is not suitable for beginners, competent skiers are welcome – just make sure to take all the necessary safety precautions.

Safety Tips

It would be remiss of me not to mention a few safety tips before you strap on your skis. If this is your first time going off-piste, go with a qualified, experienced guide who can teach you how to navigate these areas. They are easy to find (especially in this area) and can lead you to some of the best off-piste spots.

Whether you are a beginner or seasoned pro, don’t go alone, always let people know where you plan to go and take the right equipment, such as a mobile phone, airbag backpack, first aid kit and avalanche transceiver. Going off-piste is exhilarating but also dangerous and a few simple safety precautions could save you a lot of trouble if something goes wrong.

Off the Beaten Track Treats

You’ve all spent the day on the slopes – now it’s time to relax and enjoy a drink. Regroup at the Village Igloo Ice Bar. This bar is part of an incredible giant igloo and is open until 5 pm – the perfect way to kick off your evening. Best of all you can ski right up to the door.

La Rosiere Accommodation

There are many lodging options in La Rosiere. Catered chaletaccommodation high in the mountains provides ski-in ski-out facilities for large families and groups, whilst pretty hotels are ideal for couples. There is even a campsite if you are feeling brave!

A La Rosiere catered chalet is ideal for groups as it provides plenty of space for relaxing, eating and drinking together in the evenings. Imagine all your friends crowded around a cosy fire, a glass of wine or mug of rich hot chocolate in their hands, talking over the day’s adventures. Sounds pretty perfect to me.

For an amazing ski holiday that gets you off-piste and off the beaten track, there’s no better place than La Rosiere.
