Go Wild and Enjoy the Après Scene in St Anton

Get the most out of your ski holiday. Live music and even livelier bars make St Anton a must for partygoers.

St Anton is a resort famed not only for its amazing ski slopes and spectacular snowy scenery, but also for its unrivalled après scene. As far back as the 1960s, it has drawn in visitors looking to let their hair down in style. The resort is home to many bars perfect for enjoying a few drinks with friends or partying until the early hours in a winter wonderland setting. Read on for a taste of what the St Anton après scene has to offer.

The Mooserwirt

Look no further than the legendary Mooserwirt for the wildest parties in the Alps. This bar encourages dancing on tables and singing your heart out in true Austrian ‘oompah’ party style – a lively atmosphere is a given. Cult hero DJ Gerhard is still sending the crowd wild with cheesy hits well into his 60s.

Krazy Kanguruh

Make your way across the pistes to the Krazy Kanguruh for an equally fun vibe. Owned by local ski hero and Olympic champion Mario Matt, this bar remains very popular with groups of younger skiers coming from all over the globe. The oldest après ski bar in St Anton is also host to the largest open air dance floor. Get ready to have a good time if you’re giving this one a visit.

Underground on the Piste

This venue is well known for its super live entertainment and excellent food. The vibe here is certainly quirky but you will quickly feel at home in the candlelit wooden chalet. Underground on the Piste is tucked away slightly further down the slope but is well worth seeking out for a visit.

Anton Bar

If you find yourself at the base of the Galzig gondola, visit this modern and sophisticated bar for a relaxing evening. One of two gems located at the base, this is a family owned establishment and is a favourite for the Arlberg Ski School instructors.

Basecamp

The other notable venue located at the base of the piste, Basecamp sports a comfortable covered outdoor bar and has a live DJ every afternoon. If you’re feeling peckish, this is also a great place to grab a bite to eat as it serves delicious wholesome food that will fill your belly. The selection of soups and pasta dishes come highly recommended.

Where to Stay

Whenever I am asked about accommodation in this location, I always suggest booking a catered chalet. This destination is a fantastic place to enjoy both skiing and après activities, and there is nothing nicer than looking forward to a hot meal when you return to your chalet.

Of course, there are other benefits to booking a catered chalet; St Anton is home to some great bars with lively and exciting atmospheres, but if you’re looking for a more quiet and intimate vibe you can enjoy a meal in your catered accommodation before cosying up by the fire and creating your own après scene, in the company of a few friends. If you book early you should be able to find the best value catered chalet St Anton has to offer.

The après scene in St Anton is second to none. Be sure to check out some of these celebrated venues for a holiday like no other.
