Interact with the crowd at all possible moments

Making your audience feel important and cared for, as opposed to just objects in the crowd, should be the first thing on your mind. After all, they are the main reason you are onstage in the first place. They care deeply about your art and success, so the best thing you can do to return the favor is to care deeply about their happiness. Before and between songs, take the time to give a funny anecdote from touring or say something about the city in which you're playing or just having ‘conversation’ with your music fans. If you are a regular, play up your love and loyalty or perhaps their favorite songs from your band. If it is your first time there, talk about something awesome you learned about it. Perhaps most importantly, give your audience the opportunity to respond to you. It can be something as obvious as asking how everyone is doing, or something as mundane as asking where to get the best burger in town.

Get creative without looking like gimmicks

One of the most obvious stage gimmicks is the one with drama. While, at some point, drama adds some fun to the stage, it really looks staged no matter how you look at it and it is so fake. Sure, some might enjoy, but it is also possible that some would just leave the concert right away. Being creative on stage doesn’t mean lying to your audience. Sometimes it is just too disrespectful. Instead of adding drama to your stage performance, try something natural. For example, you can do a ‘special treat’ for your fans that has nothing to do with your songs. It can be a quick truth or dare or a music challenge that you have never done before.

Create sight, not just sound

In this day and age, it is all about content for social media. If you are a culinary fan, you might notice that a lot of new restaurants have started paying more attention to the looks than the food and its taste, and sometimes it could be a little bit too much for the sake of social media content. However, I can’t deny the importance of visual effects as well. Just like restaurants and cafés, many people will share the band performance they are currently watching on social media giants like Instagram or Facebook. However, aside from your good music performance, what’s so special about it? As much as I hate to say that visually stunning Instagram content is the real deal nowadays instead of just the sound you make, you may want to make your concert visually stunning and unforgettable. A concert is the best opportunity for you as a musician to appeal to all of your fans' senses, and an aesthetically pleasing experience is one thing they can't get from just listening to your tracks online. You don't need to splurge on a laser light show every night; just think about ways that you can "beautify" your concert. You can go for a great lighting tech who knows how to flatter you onstage, a fog machine that creates the somber and mysterious mood you're going for, or something as DIY as a stage background you or your band have created with your latest album cover on it, or some funky, creative design that goes well with your overall image.

Those things I have mentioned above might be small, but it can certainly make a difference to your concert. Try something new and explore. You never know that those little efforts you make for your concert can be so meaningful for your music fans.
